Drystone Walks

Peak District

Welcome to walking in the heart of England

You do the walk – we do the work

We arrange your accommodation and the transport of your luggage – you enjoy your short break at your own pace with our fully documented self guided walks through the Peak District National Park and surrounding area.

The Peak District National Park has an immense variety of scenery and contrasting areas for walking. In the north, the brooding high moorland expanses and lonely reservoirs of the Dark Peak are a majestic introduction to the Pennine Way.

In contrast, the White Peak, overlooked by the elegant spa town of Buxton, is gentler - although there are still hills to climb! Here the landscape is one of craggy limestone dales and pleasant river valleys, with farms, village inns, country lanes and historic houses - an ever changing scene.

The Derwent Valley, from Cromford to Derby has been recognised as a World Heritage site for its industrial history. It contains some of Arkwright’s best preserved cotton mills. South of Derby, walks are through lovely rolling countryside and the new National Forest, where you will also discover more historic houses.

Your overnight stay could be in a homely “B&B”, an inn or a castle (we haven’t yet found a castle but we keep looking!) Wherever it is, we will have visited, met the proprietors and are happy that you will be comfortable and well catered for.
